In a strategic move to implement growth in the region, Barry Flanigan, former Head of e-Trading, has transitioned to the Hong Kong office, assuming the role of Head of Asia Pacific at iSAM Securities.
Barry’s career with the iSAM group began in 2009, gaining 4 years’ experience working for iSAM, the Systematic Hedge Fund parent company of iSAM Securities, across different business units including operations and trading. Seeing potential in replicating iSAM’s success from the buy side, iSAM Securities was launched in 2013.
Since then, Barry has been an integral part of iSAM Securities’ growth, across a variety of roles including Head of Distribution and Liquidity and, most recently, Head of Electronic Trading. Barry worked cross-functionally to leverage the systematic trading DNA of the group and deliver sophisticated trading solutions to clients, harnessing its proprietary high-performance technology. Believing in the potential of utilising institutional, hedge fund grade products to support retail brokers, Barry helped propel iSAM Securities to its impressive position today.
With 15 years’ experience at the iSAM group, working from both Cape Town and London, Barry is making his move into the existing Hong Kong office where he will assume the role of Head of Asia Pacific. This strategic shift underscores the company’s client-centric approach, aiming to accelerate growth across APAC, enhance regional leadership and increase the autonomy of the Hong Kong office. This move aims to deliver even greater value to iSAM Securities’ APAC-based clients through a more localised and responsive approach, maintaining the same level of excellence and innovation that its global clients have come to expect, with the added benefit of a deeper understanding of local market dynamics.
