Market Commentary: Tuesday 11th February

Asian equities and U.S. stock index futures fell, while gold pulled back from fresh highs and is currently sitting around 2,915.

Japanese markets were closed on Tuesday. Sterling weakened overnight, whereas the Indian rupee strengthened as much as 1% against the U.S. dollar.

  • Crude rose 0.5% to $72.65 a barrel.
  • Australia’s 10-year yield declined one basis point to 4.39%.
  • Bitcoin rose 0.8% to $98,214.01.
  • Ethereum rose 1.6% to $2,706.47.
  • Litecoin rose 7.5% to $129.72.

Looking ahead, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey will be speaking today, along with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who is set to testify. The key event this week will be U.S. CPI data on Wednesday.
